Why support the College of Arts and Sciences on UC Day of Giving?

Your support for UC’s College of Arts and Sciences powers discovery in action that changes the world—every day in our classrooms, labs, studios, and communities. Faculty, staff, and students work side by side to turn ideas into impact, expanding science literacy, strengthening democratic and social systems, and deepening understanding at the intersection of humans and AI. Rooted in UC’s 1819 founding, A&S is a vital part of this urban, thriving Research 1 university. Today, we provide a rigorous, flexible liberal arts education to more than 7,900 undergraduate and 700 graduate students. Our 400+ faculty and 70+ degree programs in the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities place the college at the forefront of fostering academic excellence, societal impact, and innovation.

Funds that need your support

  • The Arts & Sciences Global Citizenship Innovation Fund covers a range of international travel expenses, such as airfare, lodging, meals, and the possibility of helping students cover the cost of obtaining a passport. By addressing these financial barriers, the college hopes to make studying abroad more accessible.
  • Many A&S students are in a situation where they pay for their education out of pocket, which means many hold multiple jobs to stay in school. Often this leads to burnout, deteriorating grades, or worse, drop-out. The Arts and Sciences Emergency Support Fund helps alleviate the financial pressures of the student and allows them to focus more on their education and college experience.
  • A&S Non-Profit Co-Op Support Fund provides support to students completing co-ops with local nonprofit organizations that offer meaningful professional experience and community service.
  • Gifts to the UC Fund for Arts and Sciences  are unrestricted funds that allow us the flexibility to support the areas of greatest need within the College.
