The UC Scholars Academy, now in its fifth year, is a university-wide initiative that provides college readiness programs year-round to rising grade 6-12 students in Cincinnati Public Schools. The program focuses on students in need of additional support to be successful in school. It helps students strive for and achieve post-secondary success, and empower them to identify their future as valued community members. If they enroll at UC, we continue to support these students and even help them find work-study positions around campus. This allows UC to utilize their talents and provide them with a better opportunity to be successful in college. Within President Pinto’s Strategic Direction, this program aligns perfectly with the CPS Strong Initiative and is a key example of a college readiness program under CPS Strong, especially since it is supported by all UC colleges.
