A Message from Andrew T. Filak Jr., MD - Senior Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean, College of Medicine
Being a part of this great institution for the past 42 years, I am continually awed by the spirit and energy of our many talented faculty, staff and students. The challenges of this year have made everyone’s effort even more impressive. As we conclude 2020, celebrate the continuous resiliency and excellence at the University of Cincinnati.
Reflecting on the successes of this year, I am reminded of the generosity that lives within the halls of the College of Medicine. When faced with the adversity of the COVID-19 pandemic, our faculty, staff, and students met the challenges head on. While adapting to a revised learning environment, the students recognized the needs of our community and delivered groceries to local seniors and individuals with health concerns. On the faculty and staff side, Hong-Sheng Wang, PhD, professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Systems Physiology, and members of his laboratory contributed personal donations to purchase 4,000 face masks for UC Health and the College of Medicine.
Through “Next, Now: The Campaign for Cincinnati” and with support from individuals like you, we have made substantial progress adding to our proud history, and we enter 2021 well positioned to accelerate our efforts. After all, points of pride are all around us. For example:
The college could not have made these important advancements without tremendous support from alumni, residency graduates, faculty and friends.
To continue to build on our history and transform our future, I am asking you to join me in giving to the College of Medicine. Your donation will support expanded student scholarships, and innovations in medical training and research, which will help us recruit the best talent in medicine. These are all essential components that will help lift our great institution to new heights.
Double your impact with a gift to Lucy Oxley, MD African American Medical Student Scholarship. Gifts to this fund will be matched up to $10,000 by the Hagins Family Matching Gift Program.
