Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, an internationally recognized leader in transfusion medicine, was founded in 1938 and is the second oldest blood bank in the country. Hoxworth serves more than 30 area hospitals and medical centers and collects more than 100,000 units of blood products to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals.
Hoxworth is in the midst of raising funds to purchase another bloodmobile. As the need for blood increases, our ability to collect additional units to supply our partner institutions can only keep pace with our blood collection equipment.
The need for blood never wanes. Because it cannot be manufactured, Hoxworth relies on volunteer donors to roll up a sleeve and donate blood. Together, we're Saving Lives Close To Home.
Hoxworth supports a mission that every single person can get behind in our community as there is a continual need to save lives in our community through blood donation. The lives of friends, neighbors, family, and colleagues rely on the generosity of its community to have a ready supply of blood for patients in need.
