Based at the College of Medicine and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, UCGNI physicians and researchers have achieved national benchmarks in the collaborative treatment and investigation of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, brain aneurysms, brain and spinal cord trauma, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumors, seizures, trigeminal neuralgia, Alzheimer’s disease and memory disorders, mood disorders, and neuromuscular disorders.

Brain Tumor Center - Offering hope, compassion, expertise, and the world’s most advanced technologies to patients from across the region and around the world, the Brain Tumor Center's multidisciplinary team of experts uses sophisticated technology and procedures to treat complex tumors of the brain, head, neck, and central nervous system. The center is at the forefront of advances to prolong and improve the quality of life for patients with these complex tumors.

 

Comprehensive Stroke Center - Together with the University of Cincinnati Stroke Team and the surgical/interventional neurovascular program, the Comprehensive Stroke Center focuses on stroke prevention and the treatment of transient ischemic attack (TIA), ischemic stroke, aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, and other cerebrovascular conditions.

 

Epilepsy Center - For 25 years, the Epilepsy Center has leveraged advanced technologies to treat adult patients from across the Greater Cincinnati region. The center's multidisciplinary team has been together longer than any other epilepsy team in the country. The Epilepsy Center is the region’s only center with a Level IV rating (the highest possible) from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.

 

Gardner Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders - The nationally recognized Gardner Center was designated a Morris K. Udall Center for Parkinson’s Disease Research by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke in 2009. Its physicians and scientists are dedicated to improving care and eventually finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

 

Memory Disorders Center - Employing the latest technologies and therapies to diagnose and treat hundreds of adult patients annually from across the region, physicians in the Memory Disorders Center are experts in diagnosing and treating Alzheimer’s disease and non-Alzheimer’s dementia, including impairment resulting from cerebrovascular disease and hydrocephalus.

 

Mood Disorders Center - Using the most advanced methods, the Mood Disorders Center’s physicians expertly manage the diagnosis and treatment of depression, bipolar spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, cyclothymia and dysthymia.

 

Neurotrauma Center - Specialists at the Neurotrauma Center treat patients with traumatic brain and spine injuries, embracing the newest technologies and clinical therapies while striving to maximize patients’ chances of returning to fully functioning lives. Based at the Trauma Center at the UC Medical Center, it is the only Level 1 adult trauma center in the region. Recognized nationally for its leadership in trauma care, the Trauma Center is certified by the American College of Surgeons.

 

Waddell Center for Multiple Sclerosis - The center’s internationally recognized team of neurologists, nurses and therapists are dedicated to treating people with multiple sclerosis while striving to understand mechanisms that underlie the disease. The Waddell Center team includes dedicated researchers studying MS in laboratories and conducting clinical trials funded by foundation grants and the National Institutes of Health.
