The UC Amateur Radio Club is devoted to promoting the amateur radio hobby among college students by providing a well-equipped station for student use. The club also provides resources for members to expand their knowledge of radio technology through hands-on experience and study. Additionally, UCARC interacts with the radio community through its weekly nets and participating in radio contests under the callsign W8YX.
The UC Amateur Radio Club plays a vital role in building up a community not restricted to one place. This is vital to promoting unity and fellowship between different cultures. Additionally, UCARC enables students to experiment with and develop radio technology, supporting UC's "Next Lives Here."
Funds raised through this event will help the UC Amateur Radio Club purchase updated equipment such as improved radios and specialized antennas. Funds will also go towards supplies for making antennas and other projects from scratch. Additionally, funds will be used to pay license exam fees for those attempting to gain or upgrade their license.
