EnableUC

Who We Are

EnableUC is a student-run volunteer organization at the University of Cincinnati that designs and produces 3D-printed prosthetics and assistive devices for children and adults. We provide functional and cost-effective devices that enable clients to overcome disabilities — all for free – while our students gain valuable experience solving engineering challenges for real people.

Our Work

Around this time last year, a teenage boy in Bolivia who lost both his hands as a child received his first set of prosthetics from us. We are pleased to announce that thanks to your generous donations last year, Clisver received his second set of prosthetics from EnableUC last month.

This year, we have more than a dozen projects, including:

  • Clisver Arms: Our Clisver team is returning for round three. They are working to make both functional and aesthetic improvements to their Body Powered Hook design and hope to get a new set delivered to Clisver in the Spring.
  • Cincinnati VA Hospital CAD Team: Many of the nation’s veterans face unique challenges in their lives, with few commercially available devices to help. EnableUC is working with the Occupational Therapy department at our local VA Hospital to design novel Assistive Devices that can be 3D printed at the VA as needed.
  • CCHMC Perlman Center Adaptive Toys: An EnableUC project team is working with the Perlman Center, a Cerebral Palsy clinic at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, to modify their toys to be better adapted for their patients with motor difficulties.

How You Help

By making a tax-deductible donation to this fund, you are helping us purchase the 3D printing equipment we need to produce more devices for our clients and provide real problem-solving experiences for our students.

UC and UC Health employees can give via payroll deduction today!
