The University of Cincinnati has proudly served our nations heroes and dependents since our inception in 1819. The Office of Veterans Programs & Services was founded to ensure that all individuals associated with the military that chose UC would have a seamless transition from the Armed Forces to college.
Gifts to the newly created Major Samuel J. Mantel Fund will support the Veterans Programs & Services at UC.
Why Mark and Leslie Bricker created the Mantel Fund:
"Sam Mantel was my boss when I was a teaching assistant in the UC College of Business during the 1976-77 academic year. I was very fortunate to be mentored by Sam. He was a great teacher who cared deeply about his students. Sam also served his country as a decorated fighter pilot in both World War II and the Korean War. He was awarded both the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. Leslie and I are very excited to be able to remember Sam by creating a fund to help student veterans. Our veterans do so much to safeguard our freedoms and it is good to help them as they transition from military to civilian life."
