The University of Cincinnati is home to three dynamic motorsports teams—Bearcats Motorsports (FSAE Internal Combustion), Bearcats Electric Racing (FSAE Electric), and Bearcats Baja Racing (SAE Baja)— together forming the collective Bearcats Racing. These teams are an embodiment of UC’s commitment to hands-on engineering education, innovation, and excellence in national and international competitions. 

Each team designs, fabricates, and competes their own unique vehicles, offering students an unparalleled opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. From the design of component hardware to systems integration and fabrication, students gain experience that spans all aspects of automotive engineering. Alongside this technical experience, students develop critical skills in project management, teamwork, and leadership. The Automotive Design senior capstone course further strengthens these experiences, allowing students to satisfy graduation requirements.

While all three teams share a common passion for engineering and motorsports, each team also brings its own distinct focus. Bearcats Motorsports specializes in internal combustion technology, crafting high-performance vehicles for Formula SAE competitions. Bearcats Baja takes on the challenge of designing and building rugged, off-road vehicles for extreme endurance events. And Bearcats Electric Racing, the newest racing team, strongly leans into cross-collaboration between mechanical and electrical engineers to lead UC’s charge toward sustainable engineering.
