In honor of Professor Kirti Ghia's extraordinary commitment to his students over nearly five decades of teaching and mentoring, the Professor Kirti "Karman" Ghia Endowed Graduate Student Assistance Fund was created in 2017 in his memory.
During his time in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, he founded the Computational Fluid Dynamics Research Laboratory and received multiple awards, including: the George Barbour Award for Outstanding Student-Faculty Relations, the Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching, and was named University Distinguished Professor. He also held visiting appointments at NASA, the Air Force Research Laboratory, as well as at national and international institutes. He was known for empowering students to learn, think critically, and discover new insights.
This fund honors his legacy by providing direct financial support for international students pursuing graduate studies in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
