Founded in 2019 by a group of UC medical students led by UCCOM alumna, Caroline Hensley, UC’s Student Run Free Clinic is managed by a multidisciplinary team of students and faculty who provide quality, dignifying, and empowering primary care to underserved populations in Cincinnati.
Patients who are at least 18 years old, do not currently have health insurance, and have an acute medical problem can be seen free of charge at SRFC, located within the Healing Center at 11345 Century Circle Way in Cincinnati. We serve a diverse range of patients, including a large group of Spanish and French speakers. SRFC does not ask for immigration status and has translating services available to cater to this wide patient population.
Clinics run every Saturday from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. Medical and pharmacy students at all stages of training conduct health screenings and acute care clinic visits for the uninsured. Students work together to collect histories, provide glucose and blood pressure checks, perform physical exams, and create a plan of action for patients while under supervision of a medical doctor and pharmacist. Along with acute medical care, we provide a range of services to our patient population including social support, prescription managements, referrals for chronic care, and labs.
In addition to weekly clinics, SRFC hosts annual flu vaccine brigades and biannual head and neck cancer screening events where ear, nose, and throat resident doctors lead a team of medical students to conduct a focused history and physical exam. The event also provides attendees with information on risk factors and signs of cancer, as well as a list of resources, such as other free clinics in Cincinnati. SRFC is always working to expand its reach, and your contribution can help us do so; support uninsured Cincinnatians by making a donation today.
