The focus of the African American Cultural & Resource Center (AACRC) is to address the academic, social, leadership and cultural needs of the Black (American, African, Caribbean, etc.) student population. The center encourages the ever-increasing diversity of the student body and also encourages the university community to become more enlightened about the African American or Black experience.

 

Signature Programs ​ 

  • Akwaaba – Black Student Welcome

  • Transitions – 1st Year Retention & Peer Mentoring Program

  • MLK Tribute – University-wide celebration of the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • Kuamka Week – Co- curricular leadership competition, Rites of Passage ceremony and celebration of academic success

  • Spring Break Tour – Intensive travel experience focused on leadership, activism, history and alumni engagement

  • Ushindi Weekend – Year end celebration of black excellence

  • Tyehimba – Afrocentric graduation celebration
